8/26/16 - Just like last year, we have created a post-race survey for our participants to complete. We are always striving to better our runners' experience, in the hopes they will return for another year and bring a few friends. Our committee reviews ALL the responses and considers your thoughts and recommendations seriously! Thank you all for an exciting 2016 event and we hope you will return for a bigger, better, (and hopefully drier) 2017 Howard's 25K & Paws on the Pavement 5K! Take the survey!

Some additional notes on this year's running of Howard's 25K. This year, all awards, medals, & trophies will be presented to runners as they cross the finish line. There will be an awards ceremony at 10:00am where all our winners will be recognized and while we encourage you to stay and attend, it is not mandatory. We understand that many of our participants lead busy lives and may not be able to stay for our event as long as they would like.
The business community is rallying behind our sophomore effort and we are so proud of them! We welcome Wilson Supply, Western Maryland Animal Hospital, Chaney Buskirk Insurance, Nature's Art Landscaping, and the Baltimore Street Grill to our growing list supporting such a worthwhile cause.

Part of the reason for our huge success is our wonderful business community in Western Maryland. We are pleased to announce we already have verbal commitments from Sheetz and One Main Financial, two of our biggest supporters from last year's race. We are also very excited to announce a new partnership with Fairfield Inn for 2016! Now through July 30, while available you can book a room for your weekend stay at a discounted group rate! Reserve your room now!
In response to demand for an additional distance, we've added a 5K course for 2016 - Paws on the Pavement 5K Run/Walk! The out & back course begins at Great Allegany Passage origin or "0" with participants traversing the last 1.55 miles of the Howard's 25K Run course. Prize towels will be awarded to overall winners with ribbons for age groups. All participants will receive an official POTP 5K t-shirt and finisher's medal.
If there's one thing Howard is not going to pass up, it's chasing after a kitty. So we figured why not give our 25K runners a kitty to chase as well! One Main Financial is this year's sponsor for the Break the Bank Course Record. The bonus for setting the new course record this year is $100 for the male course record and $100 for the female course record. Win and set the course record, and you go home with $200! Last year our course records were established by Adam Lowe, Mechanicsville MD at 1:34:13 and Alicia Burkey, Pittsburgh PA at 1:50:25. Woof!
One of our changes based on last year's participant feedback was moving the start time of Howard's 25K Run. The journey down the trail this year will start at 7am sharp at the New Hope Road bridge just below Frostburg.
