Come to Cumberland and Run the GAP!

Experience the breathtaking natural beauty of Western Maryland's most astounding attraction, the Great Allegany Passage, and support the state's only municipal no-kill shelter! We strive to make Howard's Run Festival one of the most enjoyable and memorable race weekends you will experience and your registration fee contributes to supporting the well-being of the many dogs and cats that are serviced by the Allegany County Animal Shelter.

Registration Opens February 1

This year, Howard's Run Festival is partnering with Run Sign Up for online registration services. Registration fees will remain the same, with the added bonus of lower processing fees. You can register online February 1 through August 18 for all three events - Hunter Douglas Howard's 25K Run, Potomac Farms Paws on the Pavement 5K, and our inaugural staging of the Sweet Pea Shuffle! Register online

Hunter Douglas Renews Commit to Festival!

Nothing kicks off a new season like good news from our sponsors! Not only is Hunter Douglas back on board for Howard's Run Fest 2017, but they are also increasing their donation! We're happy to have Hunter Douglas back on board as our name sponsor for our main event - the Hunter Douglas Howard's 25K!

2017 Cash Awards Get Bigger!

Since the weather made our 25K even more challenging, no one was able to break the current course records. That means for 2017, the Break the Bank Kitty will increase another $100! Our first male and female 25K runners to cross the finish line will receive an additional $200 should they break the respective course records as well as cashing in on the $100 for capturing first place!

New Event Features Canine Harriers

New for 2017- the Hunter Douglas Sweet Pea Shuffle! Using the oval track at the Canal Place Pavillion, our contestants (you and your pet) will be challenged with completing the most laps around the track during the alotted time. Prizes will be awarded based on most laps completed. Cost of registration is $10 flat fee or $20 in sponsorships. A details page and participant page will be forthcoming later this year!
