2017 Howard's Run Fest VIPs

On race day be on the lookout for these very special guests who have so graciously donated their time to our efforts!

What would a race be without it's namesake? Howard is one of the first adopted dogs from the "Lucky 33", a group of dogs varying in age that were rescued from an abandoned residence in Cumberland, MD in June 2014 by the Allegany County Animal Shelter. Presently, we're not sure how long Howard will be willing to oversee the race and awards ceremonies, but we think he'll be able to share some of his Sunday morning with us at the finish line!

Jim Van

Anyone that has listened to Cumberland radio will instantly recognize the voice of Jim Van who has been News Director for Happy 1057 and Rocky 106 for more than 20 years. Jim is also an avid dog lover and has agreed to act as our finish line announcer and master of ceremonies for our awards presentation. Jim will be the guy calling out your name as you cross the finish line on race day!

Sid Busch

Sid Busch is a retired U.S. Navy sonar technician, serving 26 years. These days, he is very active with Running in Honor of Fallen Heroes, an organization dedicated to spreading the word about U.S. soldiers that have lost their lives in combat. Sid is a very busy man with a very full running schedule and we are thrilled and honored that he will be bearing the flag for Howard's 25K Run. Sid has been with us from year one! If you don't see him on the course, be sure to catch him at packet pick-up on Saturday!

Chloe Wildman

We are honored to have Miss Chloe Wildman, Miss Allegany County Outstanding Teen, to perform the National Anthem at Howard's 25K Run! In addition to be a talented writer, singer and artist, Chloe is a gifted student athlete who has chosen this year to focus on and bring attention to mental health.Chloe is presently competing at the state level for Miss Maryland Oustanding Teen and was awarded the Miracle Maker Award for raising over $1600 for the Children's Miracle Network in just three months. This marked the first time the award was presented to a Maryland teen! Thank you Chloe for supporting the Allegany County Animal Shelter!!
